Alvin J. Figueroa holds a B.A. from The University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, an M.A. from Queens College, a M.Ph. and a Ph.D. from CUNY Graduate Center.  His research and teaching interests are focused on Spanish-American Contemporary Literature, Caribbean Studies, LGBTQ Studies, Masculinities, Quaker Studies, Religion and Christian Spirituality.  At the present moment he is completing an M.A. in Theology and Religion at Villanova University.  He is the author of two books on contemporary Puerto Rican authors Luis Rafael Sanchez and Clemente Soto Velez.  He is also a creative writer.
