Women’s Lives in the Renaissance

The position of a woman in society is often considered a test by which a civilization of a country or an age may be judged.
A Renaissance woman had many duties and very few rights.
Who could chose what to do? Who was truly free to make a choice?
Was their life decided by their family? How these decisions were made? Why? Women themselves defined their existence in terms of periods before, during and after marriage and childbirth.

With the help of historical and literary documents, artifacts, and videos, Dr. Elena Grianti-Schechter gave a comprehensive presentation highlighting the most important aspects of women’s lives in the Renaissance.
