Welcome to the Spanish Club!

Started in 2009, the Spanish Club is now in its third year as a world language organization at The College of New Jersey.  It was created as a result of the collaborative efforts of club advisor Dr. Tulia Jimenez-Vergara and Spanish students and enthusiasts alike. Our objective throughout the academic year is to provide diverse opportunities in which our members can participate in cultural activities and get involved with the local Hispanic community.  In the past few years, club members have traveled to Repertorio Español in New York City to see a production of “La Casa de Bernarda Alba.”  More recently, our club has worked with Sigma Delta Pi, the Hispanic Honor Society, and Union Latina to present the student body with opportunities to view Spanish films and even test their salsa skills with a free salsa dancing lesson. In the coming Fall semester, we hope to initiate various fund-raising projects to benefit local organizations within the local Hispanic Community. Club meetings are generally held once a month. During the meetings we discuss new ideas to promote and enhance our club. Being that our club is still fairly new, we are always looking for new members!  All are welcome to join, including majors, minors and any students interested in Spanish and Latin American Culture. You can join at any time throughout the year by emailing us at spanclub@tcnj.edu.  ¡Esperamos verle pronto!

Welcome to the French Club!

The French Club meets every other Wednesday from 4 to 5 in the Social Sciences Building. Often there is cheese and chocolate for no real reason.

Throughout the year we hold various events on campus celebrating French culture. Our major event every year is La Soirée. These events are open to anyone and normally feature food, music, games, food, special activities and, most importantly, food. Did we mention the food, sometimes homemade, always delicious?

We also like to host chances for people to go off campus including trips into New York City and Philadelphia to see museums, operas, or have delicious food. Our trips always have a French twist, adding a certain « je ne sais quoi » to them that makes them that much more memorable. And best of all, they are normally free!

So, if French Club sounds like something you’d be interested in joining, go right ahead! There is no language requirement; in fact we love for people to go not because they are studying the language, but because they love all things French.

Welcome to the Italian Club!

The Italian Club continually aims to build and strengthen Italian American awareness on campus. It embraces the Italian Culture through educational programs and activities that preserve our cultural identity. We aim to provide an accurate and bias free representation of the Italian people, history, and culture through our events while providing an enjoyable atmosphere in which Italian Americans and students of all cultures can meet and interact with one another. The Italian Club is committed to ensuring that every semester is filled with events that showcase the portable culture of Italian and Italian Americans. We have meetings where we learn traditional Italian games, dances, music and phrases. We have free Italian lessons for those looking to learn a few words. We sponsor talks and presentations that educate students about the experiences of Immigrants. Our big event every year is our free bus trip to the San Gennaro Festival in Little Italy. This is the longest running Italian American Festival in the United States. The Italian Club at TCNJ always welcomes new members of all different backgrounds.
